What an epic weekend of racing up in Cairns!! We had a large contingent of athletes and supporters there representing CLTC. Taking on the challenge of the full IM distance (3.8k swim, 180k bike, 42.2k run) were Sean, Karl, Chelsea, Pete, Steve, Stuart, Rob, Kevie and Helen. And taking on the challenge of the half IM distance (1.9k swim, 90k bike, 21.1k run) were Steph, Leanne, Scotty and Laura.

The weather was pretty perfect for an Ironman in Cairns. There was no unbearable heat or humidity, and no rain in sight. Winning! There was also no dreaded big chop or swells during the swim which Cairns is reknowned for. You can always expect a strong head wind to contend with on the ride, but this year there were some lulls, providing opportunities for athletes to enjoy the spectacular ocean scenery without a face full of wind. The run conditions were also ideal for athletes - dry and fairly cool, especially as the sun started to set for those “lucky” athletes who got to run into the night.

Massive congratulations to all who raced. We are so proud of you all! And special mention and congratulations to Steph who came 2nd in her Cairns 70.3 age group, and Sean who came 4th in his Cairns IM age group. Well done Steph and Sean!!
